The Helping Hands Event for the Packing of Meals for Burkina Faso will be held on October 22, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon in Newman Hall.
Join fellow parishioners, families, and friends at this fun event to help make meals for people who are undernourished in Burkina Faso, Africa. Last held in 2013, this year's event will package 10,000 meals that will be sent to Burkina Faso. These nutritious protein, vegetable, and vitamin meals will help feed our neighbors overseas and help reduce global poverty. The meals will be served by Catholic Relief Services partner Stop Hunger Now. Stop Hunger Now has sent over 225 million meals to 74 countries to help starving families.
The people of Burkina Faso live on less than $2 per day and suffer from malnutrition, diseases, and complications from lack of food. CRS and Stop Hunger Now not only provide these meals, but also train the Burkinabe people in agricultural innovation that protect their natural resources. The organizations also teach clothmaking, poultry raising, water well and sanitation practices, and business management for sustainable living so the need for emergnecy food assistance will become a thing of the past.
