I am happy to announce that there will be a Paulist ordination this year. Deacon Eric Hernandez, CSP will be ordained at St Paul the Apostle Church in New York on Saturday, May 20. Deacon Eric is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas. We hope that he will be assigned here at St. Austin Church someday soon, or at a minimum, that he will visit us soon. His ordination will be live-streamed, and I hope that many of you will join us for that day. Both Fr. Paolo Puccini, Fr. Bruce Nieli, and I will be attending that ordination in New York City.
Well, you may ask, who will be saying Mass that weekend here at St. Austin’s in Texas? It will be a delicate dance to get all the Masses covered. Fr. Paolo will be here to say Mass on Friday the 19th, and then he heads off to visit family and friends in Columbia, South America. Fr. Bud Roland, of the Diocese of Austin, will cover for us for the Saturday evening Mass at 5:00 p.m., and the Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Mass on May 21. I return late on the night of Saturday and will cover the other Masses on Sunday, May 21.
There will be some coming and going of Paulist’s during the month of May, and we are pleased that we will be having a Paulist Seminarian, Dan Macalinao, joining us for the month of July.
I look forward to the day we have our new rectory, rather than living in a rented house when we can better welcome and accommodate Paulist visitors. But we are always happy to have Paulists visit.
God Bless!
