One of the ways you can volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry is to help with the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, located at 901 W. Braker Lane. Huddie Murray, President of our SVDP ministry, recruited some of us to bag vegetables on Friday afternoons in preparation for the Saturday morning Food Bank. It’s really a fun job!
It is amazing to see the huge amounts of beautiful vegetables and fruits (and other foods!) that are donated by HEB, Central Market, Target, and The Central Texas food Bank, among others. There are volunteers who do everything, from unloading the trucks to stacking the bins of vegetables/fruits for us to bag.
If you haven’t seen the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and the additional rooms that include administrative offices, conference rooms and food bank, you are always invited to come take a tour of the facility. The Thrift store itself is a well-stocked store where you can find beautiful jewelry, furniture, clothing, shoes, books, small appliances, kitchenware, etc., at affordable prices. For now, it is open Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. (They are hoping to expand hours as it become safer to be together.) So much to see! You never know what treasures you will find!
You are always welcome to join this Ministry to help our neighbors in need, or volunteer at the Food Bank or Thrift Store. Just contact Huddie Murray for more info!
