As you know, for some years our parish/school community has been planning, fund raising, working and praying to provide a new home for our parish and school ministry. Now we see the goal in sight!!!
Recently we have moved all the school materials and the furniture we want to keep from San José parish, where we were for two years, into the new ministry/school building. Then last week we moved all of the office furniture that we will be keeping and reusing into the new building. And of course there is much NEW furniture and equipment that has been arriving and being installed daily. Even though we have to do this strenuous move during the hottest time of the year, it has been exciting and exhilarating. It is REALLY HAPPENING!!
You will see on our bulletin, and on our parish website, and hopefully you received an email from the parish, the announcement of an adults only sneak preview on Saturday, August 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Those parishioners who volunteered to help us with the school and church office moves have been VERY IMPRESSED with the new building. So if you are curious, and who at St Austin’s is not curious???, please RSVP to the church office at 512-477-9471 or email [email protected].
Then on Sept 24 we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the dedication of our beautiful worship space. Actually, the anniversary is Sept 25, but we are going to anticipate by a day. Bishop Joe Vásquez will be with us to preside at the 11:30 a.m. Mass. He will bless new hymnals for our use, and also brand new Communion Ware for use at our Masses. At the Mass we will have a short observance and thanksgiving for our 70 years in our sanctuary, and expect to be graced by the presence of several parishioners who were part of our parish 70 years ago, the living stones of our parish. Following the Mass we are asking Bishop Joe to process to the new Paulist Hall in our Ministry/School building, where we will have a short ceremony of blessing the new building. Afterwards we will have refreshments. I am hoping for ice-cream.
Please plan to join us for our various events, and please continue to remember all of our parish and school in your prayers.
