Two of our parish ministries, the Funeral Ministry and the Martha Ministry, support families in times of loss and grief with welcome and hospitality during and following funeral and memorial services.
Funeral Ministry at St. Austin Parish is an important way our community can support a family at the time of the loss of a loved one. Volunteers in this ministry do the following:
In general, funeral Masses happen on weekday mornings and 3 to 4 volunteers are needed for a Mass, serving on an as-needed basis. No special training is required to participate in this ministry, but it is helpful for a person to already be a liturgical minister at St. Austin. Before helping with the Funeral Ministry, all volunteers MUST be EIM compliant as required by the Diocese of Austin.
If you are interested in being part of this ministry, contact our Liturgy Committee.
