Thanks to all the families who literally paved the way! Your gifts made our lovely plaza possible! You gave us a surprising oasis where, for many years, our trickling fountains and birdsong made the bustle of Guadalupe Street seem distant.
This last opportunity to have a bit of St. Austin's past is the Clear the Courtyard event. On Monday, August 30, after 8 a.m. Mass and until 8 p.m., parishioners are invited to clear the courtyard of your family's inscribed bricks. Also available will be the plants and landscaping materials there - from pavers, to plants.
To give all a fair opportunity, we'll limit the number of plants and landscaping materials taken. We'll have a donation drop point on site that day. All kind offerings will be used as "seed money" to create a new urban oasis for our new buildings in 2023.
This is a strictly DIY event. Please bring everything you might need to carry away what you'd like - tools for prying your bricks free, pots and gardening tools to remove plants. PLEASE don't forget to bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.
NOTE! Please be prepared and forewarned that the ground will be uneven and even a bit hazardous as bricks are removed so wear sturdy shoes. Be careful!
