On Saturday September 9th, five Knights of Council 10776 provided the weekly meal for the Micah 6 Street Youth Drop-In Center at the University Baptist Church. Our plates of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, grapes and brownies were quickly consumed as the guests came back for seconds and thirds! Fr. Bruce Nieli CSP, our Council Chaplain, supervised in the kitchen and visited with the guests. For some of these young adults, this might be their best meal of the week. A dozen churches and organizations, mostly in the West Campus area, provide the meal on a rotating schedule. St. Austin participants include the JustFaith team which serves almost every month, the Knights twice a year, and starting next year a team from the Journey ministry will also serve.
St. Austin parishioners will soon get to sample the Knights’ other culinary skills. We will serve sausage wraps after the 11:30 Mass on September 24th as part of the new School and Ministry Center dedication. The following weekend our World-Famous breakfast tacos will return after the 7:30 and 8:45 Masses! Bring your appetites!
