Alison met Sara and Joethrough Communion Outreach, she's a lector at the 5:30 Mass, a Faith Formation Mom, and serves on the Parish Pastoral Council. Alison worked with Council colleagues, Susan Parker, Josie Barrett, and Mary Margaret Salls to spearhead the Caring Connection effort.
Sara and John (her husband), are St. Austin School alumni parents. She was active in Parents' Club. Their kids were participants in extracurriculars, so they were part of the raucus community found in the bleachers cheering on our mighty Eagles. Sara serves in Commu-nion Outreach, while John's active in Thursday Outreach and is a Paulist Associate.
Joe has been a member of St Austin's Church and the University Catholic Center since 1975; his three children Felicel, Dan, and Anna attended St. Austin's School. In addition to Communion Outreach, Joe is a founding member of one of our Contemplative Small Christian Community. It there was there that he met his second wife Jane Sam. They are both active in the Mobile Loaves and Fishes ministry. They've devoted much time and energy to our Move of a Century.
Nancy Carrales, also a Notre Dame alum, like Alison she does Commu-nion Outreach at Westminster. In that service she connects with two other ND alumni, Missy Gray and Catherine Russell Krzyskowski. Nancy's a lector, and, with her hus-band David, is active in our St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also prays our First Thursday Journey (formerly CRHP) Rosarywith us.
We hope that you'll find connections in our community as these points of light have. Fr. Chuck, in his homily on the feast of St. Louis, King of France, looked again at the two greatest commandments and considered love in action. He illustrated the first reading from Isaiah 58:6 - 11 with opportunities for engagement in groups in our parish, Micah 6 of Austin, the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He described taking action as we encourage in our Advocacy Plazas. As Alison, Sara, John, Joe, Jane, Nancy, and David show us, there are many and varied opportunities. We invite you to explore a group, volunteer for a one-time event, or join a book discussion. As Fr. Steven Bell taught us to say, "You're always, always, always welcome here. Amen, Chuch?"AMEN!!
