She had loved her job working as a secretary in a small company. Then she became ill with COVID, and was out of work for many weeks. Soon she was told that she was terminated from her job with no separation pay. As her savings ran out, she tried to find a new job, but her health was poor and she found she didn’t have the stamina for a fulltime job. She needed help and called our St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVdP).
We were able to help her with rent, utilities and food cards and provided resources for her to get additional help from the City and other agencies. As her health improved, she was once able to work fulltime and get her life back on track.
Our volunteers handled hundreds of cases like this one during the COVID crisis. Hundreds of our neighbors still need help as they struggle to catch up on their bills and get back to normal. It is because of your donations to our monthly Persons In Need Collection that we are able to help so many. Your donations are always welcome, as well as your time!
