As I write this, I have been taking part in the annual Catholic Social Ministry Gathering. This is anew experience, but I have discovered that thousands of Catholics in this country and abroad are “raising a voice for those without a voice” (Bishop John Stowe) and advocating for those most vulnerable.
The theme this year is “Make Justice Our Aim” which originates in Isaiah. Many of us are still stuck at home during this pandemic, but we can certainly help bring about justice not only in our communities, but also those in the poorest countries.
Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Bread for the World, Catholic Charities, Catholic Health Association, Justiceforimmigrants.org, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are just some of the organizations actively working for those whose voices have been silenced.
