Generosity abounds! The last month seems to have allowed a little “breather” in the requests to our St. Vincent de Paul Society, but we know this is a shortlived situation. Perhaps stimulus checks or the help provided by programs such as RENT 3.0, TexasRentRelief.com, or Travis County Health and Human Services has allowed a short-term respite. With the moratorium on evictions ending soon, though, we know well enough that both our SVdP and our Outreach ministries will be called upon to assist those who are still struggling to find jobs, those who juggle work and finding safe childcare, and those many who are visiting food pantries each week… YOUR generosity is what has allowed us to pay it forward and we cannot show our gratitude enough. Thank you!
The Vincentian Family Center (VFC) houses the St. Vincent de Paul Store, weekly food pantry, and client services that provide bus passes to homeless and indigent neighbors. It's a place that has been saving people all year long, and they can use your help. If you are fully vaccinated (not a requirement, but a good idea) and are feeling ready to volunteer, your heart and hands can be put to good use at the VFC. The Store is open on Thursdays through Saturdays from 10-5 and volunteers sort, price, shelve, etc. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Also on Friday afternoons, a few of us from St. Austin’s have been gathering to put together some of the items that will be handed out at the Food Pantry the following day. Saturday mornings are also a beehive of activity at the VFC. If you would like to participate in any of these opportunities, please contact~
