God of compassion,
You sent Jesus to proclaim a time of mercy
reaching out to those who had no voice,
releasing those trapped by their own shame,
and welcoming those scorned by society.
Make us ambassadors of reconciliation.
Open our ears that we may listen with respect and understanding.
Touch our lips that we may speak your words of peace and forgiveness.
Warm our hearts that we may bring wholeness to the broken-hearted
and dissolve the barriers of division.
Guide the work of your Church
and renew us with the Spirit of your love.
Help us and all people shape a world
where all will have a place,
where the flames of hatred are quenched,
and where all can grow together as one.
Forgive, restore and strengthen us through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Merciful God, I thank you for your eternal goodness. I come to you to confess my sins and ask for your mercy. I know that you will not ignore or reject a heart that is humble and contrite. Increase my insight and awareness to know the sins and offenses that I have committed. Grant me the courage to honestly acknowledge my faults before you. And, give me the sincerity to offer a heartfelt contrition, to repent and receive this Sacrament worthily so that I may receive your grace to amend my life. Your great love knows no bounds, O God. I ask that you touch my heart and bring me closer to you, through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.
In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus says, “Let the children come to me and do not prevent them.” Through this examination of our conscience, we will prayerfully think about what we have said and done. Then with our confession, we can freely come to Jesus who loves us very much.
How am I as a child of God?
How do I act in my family?
What kind of friend am I?
What kind of student am I?
Do I have serious faults?
What kind of person am I?
Have I acted like a Child of God?
Have I acted like a responsible member of the Body of Christ?
Have I acted like a responsible student?
Have I acted like a responsible member of my family?
Have I shown value and respect for myself?
Soul of Christ, make me holy.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, fill me with love.
Water from Christ’s side, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds, hide me.
Never let me be parted from you.
From the evil enemy, protect me.
At the hour of my death, call me.
And tell me to come to you.
That with your saints I may praise you.
Through all eternity.
Amen.
O my God,
I am heartily sorry for having offended You
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven
and the pains of hell,
but most of all because they offend you, my God,
who are all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace,
to confess my sins,
to do penance
and to amend my life.
Amen.
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend with your help
to sin no more
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God, have mercy.
