It's an exciting time! We're on the threshold of a new phase in our parish's rich history. As we prepare for the end of our development pilgrimage and to move into our new Ministry and Education Center, we've got several critical positions to fill. Consider these job openings in our thriving and diverse Catholic community located across from the University of Texas. St. Austin is served by the Paulist Fathers committed to bringing the Word of God to life.
Do you know someone with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications required to move our parish into our bright tomorrow? Could it be you?
Dr. Andrea Pobanz will soon serve St. Mary's Cathedral as organist. Dr. Ap will leave St. Austin's on September 30. We'll miss the music she's brought to our liturgies. Her fine talent at our gallery tracker organ, her skillful direction of our parish choir, and her lovely voice lifted in song as cantor have been a blessing to our community.
As we pray for success in the next chapter of her life, we'll send Dr. Ap forth with the very best wishes of the St. Austin community. Join us at a farewell reception this Sunday after the 11:30 Mass. We hope you'll stop by to thank her and wish her all good things.
New Duties for Two On Staff
A Promotion for Stephen King
Effective July 1, Stephen King is promoted to IT Administrator from IT Technician. He's been a part of our staff since 2012 and the man behind the camera for all livestreamed Masses and other liturgies since the pandemic began. In his new role, he will help guide technology decisions as we prepare to move into the new spaces. Congratulations Stephen!
Changes in Sharon Lehtonen's Role
Sharon Lehtonen's new title as Director of Parish Life for the parish will now include looking at making connections within our community, welcoming new parishioners, and improving engagement and volunteer involvement at St. Austin's. She'll continue to serve as liaison to community organizations and ministries and organize larger events for the parish. Many thanks to Sharon!
Hello all! My name is Kristina Priotto, and I am a Sustainability Studies, Geography and Plan II student at UT. Originally from Houston, I was first drawn to St. Austin because of the warm and welcoming feeling I received from the community here. I am very grateful to Fr. Paolo for telling me about Outreach and the Administrative Assistant position. In the short time since I began working here, I have grown to appreciate all the hard work our Outreach volunteers put in to ensure that we can help those who come to us to the best of our ability. God is full of compassion, and there’s no place I see it more than Outreach! I am looking forward to meeting more Outreach volunteers and other parishioners in person.
We're Grateful for

Joy Morales
Receptionist
I’ve attended St. Austin Church since the early ‘80’s, when I converted to Catholicism while a student at UT. Having lived in Austin since graduating, being a parishioner here has meant so much to me. From beautiful Masses and Sacraments, to our daughter’s time at the school, to all the wonderful people, St. Austin Parish has been “home” throughout the years. After working in group healthcare insurance, the auto industry, and pharmaceutical sales, I feel blessed to now serve as part of the parish staff and am excited about the transitions leading to our new buildings. I love spending time with my husband (Joe), our daughter (Christa), and our boxer (Tyson), as well as baking, taking long walks, and reading Pulitzer Prize winning novels.

Stephen King
Technology
Hi, I'm Stephen. Some of you may be familiar with my parents Judy and David. I came to St. Austin's in 2012, soon after graduating from UT. I started out moving furniture, mopping floors, and other maintenance work. The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for me, since we found ourselves in need of a camera operator, which allowed me to utilize my technical skills and also led me to my new role as the general IT guy for the parish. I'm excited to have the opportunity to face new challenges as we plan our migration to the new office on MLK. In my free time, I enjoy writing JavaScript, long bike rides, reading Slate Star Codex, and playing computer games.
